100 years ago: Vernon Isgar was arrested for speeding, “was fined and paid the fine.” He swore “by all the gods” that he was not “driving over ten miles an hour.”

75 years ago: The La Plata County draft board called for 60 men, and 55 men were scheduled to leave for final examination.

50 years ago: Two Texas teenagers, who were hiking in the Lost Lake area near Trinidad, discovered the wreckage of a failed flight by William F. Durall of Cortez that was attempted more than a year before. He was flying a light plane west over the mountains to Cortez, but never arrived at his destination.

25 years ago: A 53-year-old man from New Mexico, who was driving in Durango, allegedly “smiled at a kid and then swerved and ran over his dog.”
