Your best bet for the weekend is the La Plata County Fair, an event full of agricultural activities and fun held all day Saturday and Sunday at the county fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.
The 2017 fair is themed “A Lasting Legacy” to honor the annual event’s 70-year history and celebrate the best animals, produce and talent that La Plata County has to offer.
People will be able to view goats, poultry, rabbits, pigs and other animals; check out quilts; learn about agriculture; watch the Demolition Derby; explore the carnival; enjoy the family fair dance; catch a dog show; listen to a rooster-crowing contest; compete in costume contests; eat at the barbecue cook-off; join the cowboy church service Sunday morning; and more.
All are welcome to attend and experience the agricultural heart of Durango.
